Over the years I have spent many holidays and reference gathering trips in coastal locations. Scotland is one of our favourite destinations, giving the beautiful Highlands as a backdrop.  We spend our time watching the birds, otters, seals,  dolphins/porpoises and pick our way along the rock pools on the sea shore.  If you are interested in the natural world, the coast is endlessly interesting and always beautiful.
