Sunset on Mull

Over the years we have spent quite a few weeks on Mull (an island just off the west coast of Scotland) – and much of our time there has been spent sitting on the edge of lochs watching for otters.  While we are gazing at the water, we do of course find ourselves also gazing at the rather wonderful sunsets which occur in this part of the world.  Although not a representation of a particular sunset (or a view) this print brings together the feeling and atmosphere of many of the sunsets we have sat and admired.

This reduction linoprint is a limited edition and is printed with Cranfield Safewash oil based inks on Japanese paper.  I have tried my absolute best to give an accurate representation of the colours, but computer screens differ so the original may vary slightly in colour or tone, from the image on your device.  Please also note that I hand print these myself  – this means there are small imperfections and colour differences in the edition – which is why I have called this a ” varied edition”.  This is part of the joy of owning a hand printed item rather than a digitally printed and enhanced image – each individual print is different from the previous one.  If you are interested you can see a small part of the (rather long) process of printing this piece on my Instagram account.
