Pomegranates have been cultivated throughout the “old world” since ancient times. To me they always conjour up the exotic. They are tricky to paint as they are often similar in colour to apples, and a also similar but subtly different, shape. Catching the right angles and tones, so that it actually looks like a pomegranate is surprisingly challenging.
